It usually happens around the 4th day postpartum my midwife explained to me. She called it 'pregnancy tears'. Due to hormones which level, she told me, grows slowly during pregnancy and then suddenly 'lowers' after giving birth

90 min sleep cycle....first year of my first born I hardly saw him he was always asleep ...always only lasted 1.5hrs awake then slept. when he was 5 months I would put him to bed and he wouldn't wake till 12 the next afternoon...my boobs were at exploding point..I swear 90 min then sleep. so don't look at regular times just go by 90 mins after they wake

Babies wanting to only sleep in contact is super normal ❤. Think about it from an evolutionary perspective- if we left our babies alone in cave person times they would have been so vulnerable. Baby sleep is super individual and it's not linear (🙋🏻‍♀️learned that the hard way lol). Sounds like you're doing great just rolling with the punches and responding to whatever her needs are day by day 🥰

One of mine hated going down for a daytime nap so I would use the pram, and I would bring it inside and rock it back and forth and just let her sleep in there

jeans.... I started buying cheaper jeans at Postie Plus, they are stretchy and they fit me well...I struggle because I like comfort and also I had surgery a couple of years ago so my stomach is not the same shape, and they mould to my body I love them...if you want to go vintage, and you can find "bubble jeans" I HIGHLY recommend those, they were fantastic and I wore them through pregnancy and after with them springing back into shape after each wash

My baby is 4.5 months and takes 4 naps a day. We don’t have a strict schedule, but we wake him at 7am and follow his wake windows (1.5-2 hours) from there. It ebbs and flows depending on how long each nap is. We shoot for naps to be at least 1 hour, but never let them go more than 2 hours (honestly rare these days anyway). It’s great to prevent overtiredness. A few weeks ago, I gave him a stuffed animal to hold while nursing and now he loves it. When I transfer him to the bassinet/crib, if he starts to stir, he will hug the stuffy and it soothes him. I take it out of the bassinet once he is asleep. Kind of random but works! I think whatever you do, consistency is what matters. You got it mama! Have the best time in the states 💓

Hi Carrie, have you ever tried Hunt and Brew iced coffee from Australia? It's single origin cold brew and fresh milk, no added sugar, they also have a mocha no sugar as well. The one I'm drinking right now has 248mg caffeine per serve I love it so strong and tasty as I hate sugar in coffee.

I can tell you’re doing so great, Carrie! You seem confident and relaxed as a mom :) I know you said you wanted to keep naps flexible, but I have found both my daughters thrived when our schedules were structured. That doesn’t mean all naps had to be in the crib at home, but it means finding a way to make them happen - pack n play, carrier, car ride, etc. I think the 4m age was the hardest to get them down but it does get easier! Have a fantastic trip ❤

Nap advice: Taking what works (transportation) and bringing it into the home...this is what worked for my son: bringing the stroller and car seat inside and walking him around the house for a moment to simulate that comfort pattern. Once settled, I could sit and push the stroller back and forth with my foot and as long as he could see me, he would doze off like in the car. I did this until he was adjusted and slipping into nap time with ease (*at a scheduled time-that was important for us). Then I slowly transitioned him to crib napping on days where he wasn't struggling to get heavy eyes until he was crib napping daily. Hope you find something that helps! Congratulations on becoming a mother! Thank you for your videos, I love them! Almost forgot an important element for us: Music - I played the same CD every time (Marie Antoinette 2006 movie soundtrack Disc 1) so the music was in the same order (I would play this in the car too) to help trigger the habit. I feel like it really helped - it has a great mix of classical music, bells, varying volumes, even horse hooves and a buggy on cobblestone. I chose that because 1 I love it and could stand listening to it on repeat and 2 I thought the random sounds would help dull his senses to other external noises because his brain would be expecting strange sounds.

Awww this video is simply the sweetest. Absolutely loving watching you be mama to your girl! 🩷🥲☁️🫖 such a precious chapter you’re in. You’re doing so so good mama. Wrapping you all in so much love! Ocean didn’t sleep during the day unless I was wearing him until he was 15 months. He’s almost 2 now & I still wear him to sleep & now I transfer him out of his carrier. For us, once I just surrendered to it, slowed down & softened to it- it became one of our most special times together. If you can do contact naps, I’d say just lean into it. They slip by oh so fast 🥲

Hi Carrie! I’m a first time mum, my girl is 8.5months and honestly I had to stop getting caught up in what she should/ could/ others are doing… my girl sometimes will nap on her bed during the day for 1.5hrs and sometimes not even 30 seconds, I have tried different types of sleep training ect and just hasn’t worked for her, I generally just attempt one thing nd if it doesn’t work I do another, hold her, wear her etc.

I'm about to complete my first year as a mom and my daughter is similar to yours in that she is great at sleeping at night (she always has been), but naps... never know what we're working with. I travelled with my daughter to the UK (from our home on the west coast of Canada) when she was 3 months old and the plane ride went way better than I expected, but the jet lag hit her HARD and she never truly adjusted to the time zone in the 2.5 weeks that we were there! I found myself just baby wearing constantly because she was so tired! You've got this!

  • @jamiecarter2192

You're such a great mum! It melts my heart hearing you talk to Eliana and just give her so much love. My baby is 17 months and I went through the exact same issue with daytime naps! It was so hard. He slept through the night from 8 weeks old but we ended up contact napping until 9 months because if we put him in the cot, he would only sleep 20 mins or he just wouldn't go to sleep. It's not easy! Do you rock her to sleep, or let her go to sleep on her own? I think it takes time for babies to get used to routines etc!

I just had my baby back in April, so I’m still learning naps as well. My wee one is kind of the opposite a great day time sleeper (typically) but wakes a lot in the night at times. So I wish to know your secrets for the evening. As for day time naps I follow my babys body language paired with a rough wake window time I aim for like 1.5-2 hrs but 3 if he’s really chill about being awake

Their sleep patterns change so often. Naps are not always a success. I learned to take it day by day. It's ok to plan out your da. Just be patient if it doesn't go as planned. Also, getting one thing done on your personal to-do list will probably take a lot longer than usual. It's Eliana's time now:) Enjoy it all!
